Economic Meltdown & Recovery?

Isaac Hayes - 18 April 2009

When will there be a economic Recovery?..............everybody seems to be talking about it, and as usual the term is clearly being used in a fashion without any clear definition..............."Recovery" great word, but recover to what?

For anybody to believe the meltdown has been a mere accident should think again, simply "Recovery" is going to mean behavioral change in the way we consume. How can we tell China or anybody else to stop Co2 emissions when the entire western world has been producing Co2 since the industrial revolution?

Well we need to take a big step, and that big step is going to hurt, it will cause war, small or great, and will lead to many internal security problems for many countries.

The idea that we are about to resume the insane behavior that induced the current  economy is absurd.

We will never return to what we considered "normal" , because too many stray forces are pushing a new agenda..........it all sounds very gloomy, but there is a massive up side to it all in the long run, and that is a stop to not only Co2, but all those other nasty pollutants (that's as long as we avoid global war).

A global war will instantly fix Americas problems just like it did during the   great depression   , but a war with who?  .........who really is big enough to take on the big boys.......Russia, China...........I don't think so!........but then again who knows......look at how many country's the baddie Nazis took on, or even the Japanese.

Look at the Global Distribution of Military Expenditure in 2007 and you will see that it seems nobody has the ability to take the USA on, but is that the absolute truth?  World Military Spending

Military Budget USA

Maybe we wont  recover into a Global conflict, but smaller regional conflicts are a sure bet, and have always been happening.

A Global  Influenza pandemic similar to the  1918 Spanish Flu   is high on the cards, and of course the modern version we so often hear about, but which the general public take no notice of is the   H5N1   virus, and when it hits it will make the economic meltdown look good..........Will it happen?  well I suggest to the reader to look at there own governments response to the possibility of H5N1 to see how serious the various governments are taking it.............sure nothing has happen yet, but the experts tell us not to question "if" but "when"

Like I said it sure makes the so called economic recovery seem pretty lame.

Of course as long as stock markets "seem" to rally and people think we are in "Recovery" they will feel safe again, but nothing is "safe" anymore.

We can look at what some of the non PC economists say like "buy a farm and a gun", and when it comes from well known guys like Faber or Rodgers, then I think we should all take more notice.

The Daily Reckoning   story on the "recovery" is sobering as well.

Recovery may well mean a 1960s style economy re fashion, I revised that from my previous prediction of a 1990s style.

In reality to remove the greatest threat to human kind will mean a dramatic cut in Co2, which will mean a complete re vamp of all industries, and this will take years, ..........years meaning the up swing could be 5 - 10 years away!  and if we have anything else major like global conflict or H5N1, then the years a so called "recovery" will take is anybodies guess.

All doom & gloom........you bet!
