Eu President Says USA on “Road to Hell"

The Czech Republic, which holds the EU presidency, warned against Obama's response to the economic crisis.

Speaking before the European Parliament on Wednesday, Mirek Topolanek described the stimulus measures and financial bailouts passed by US President Barack Obama as the "way to hell."

Mirek Topolanek warned that the massive costs of the stimulus plans and financial bailouts would "undermine the stability of the global financial market."

Topolanek's comments come just one day after Britain's Prime Minister Gordon Brown urged the same EU legislators to increase their stimulus spending.

Obama has also implicitly criticized those countries that have resisted further stimulus measures (money printing).

Germany is among the countries that has prominently resisted calls to increase the scale of its economic stimulus packages…………………maybe the Germans just don’t like monopoly money.

Most European leaders were alarmed at the tone of Topolanek's rhetoric, and so they should………reality hurts.

At the same time Prague is also currently engaged in talks with Washington over the issue of whether US President Barack Obama will continue to support the contentious missile defense shield pushed by Bush.

The weapons defense system's radar shield is supposed to be installed on Czech territory.
